Just rinsing, adding fresh water, and wiping down the mouthpiece with a soapy cloth is all that is needed most of the time. The included matching poker works great for keeping the downstem clear.
I recommend an occasional deep cleaning session with included denture cleaning tablets or filling with rubbing alcohol and let soak for a bit and a good rinsing with hot water or you can use any other glass cleaning products that you like to use on any glass water pipes.
